THE BRIEF
Guardrails for a working plant.
The customer needed guardrails around a new washout pit as part of upgrades to their Hamilton plant. The work needed to fit the pit and account for the machinery operating nearby.
529 fabricated the handrails from 1.5-inch hollow structural section (HSS) tube. The rails bolt together in 8-foot sections, so an individual section can be replaced if it is damaged by equipment.
The completed rails have a bright orange finish for visibility. The same plant project also included drip ledges and chutes that return spilled mud and water to the pit, plus a bright orange 4-by-8-foot splashguard wall between the truck dumping lanes. The wall helps prevent trucks from splashing mud and water onto one another.

Washout-plant drip ledge
A drip ledge that directs spilled water and mud back into the Hamilton washout pit.

Washout-plant splashguard
A 4-by-8-foot splashguard wall separates the dumping lanes to help keep mud and water from splashing between trucks.

Custom plant chute
A custom chute, also used as a drip ledge, directs bucket-to-funnel water and mud spillage back into the washout pit.
